It's a bit ironic...

It's funny that you make a big fuss about sprite artists not being real animators, and that you feel sorry for people who actually take the time to draw real Flash, when you seem to have an awful lot of those free protection point cartoons under your belt. You know what I'm talking about; Those things we get hundreds of each day... Those cartoons that under normal circumstances would get blammed, however with all of those endless amount of crews (i.e. Clocks, Locks, Glocks, Star Syndicate, etc.) they pass judgement. The kind of cartoons which feature long title screens to make them look professional, until eventually blinking screens and imported jpegs kick in...

Right. You feel sorry for REAL animators.

Besides, not all sprite cartoons include stolen artwork. What about mine, for instance, where most of the sprites are custom made or re-drawn? Actually, 90% of the Mario sprite cartoons which feature non-custom sprites usually get blammed or receive low scores anyway. The only instances where people automatically vote 5 for a Mario cartoon is when it's a video game mishap (or something similar).

Calm down, and don't make such a deal when you yourself can't contribute to any decent and original animations.

Wow you're quite the idiot!

You wanted some feedback, so here it is...

Although it's pretty good for a first episode, there were a few things you could improve on: Most notably, the backgrounds appeared to be imported images (I'm guessing you drew them in Adobe Illustrator). Typically, the overall filesize probably would have been dramatically smaller if most of the graphics were made in Flash itself.

The lip-sync was great. That's usually something most people have difficult with, but you made it turn out well. A lot of people skimp out by simply tweeing an open mouth over-and-over again (like in cheap animes). The pacing was alright, but there were a few instances which could have probably picked up faster.

Usually, I import my voice overs first, and animate each line of dialogue to go according to the voices, that way everything moves quickly. It seemed like you animated the cartoon first, then added the speech later. Oh well. It's not that big of a deal.

The humor was keen and originally, and seemingly void of cheap fanboy references like the kind seen in Family Guy. I especially liked the little anti-anime thing you said at one point.

Anyway, not bad for a first start. Keep on working, and you'll come up with some great flashes.

Antrock responds:

Thanks. Actually the problem with the Voice-Overs was we worked out the scene's timing in Audacity, then animated the timing of the cartoon to the sound file.

If you would like to take a look at the .mov version and tell me what you think (I'd really appreciate it) It's got the timing and sound normalization problems worked out, plus more footage and extra jokes. You can find it at http://www.rockstarscomic.com

Anyways, I really appreciate your review.

There is no skill in this cartoon whatsoever.

First, this doesn't even qualify as a cartoon/movie... It's just a lame political rant slideshow with music in the background. You're the reason why entertainment is crap nowadays. People have their heads shoved up their asses because they think they know it all, thus the only form of "art" these days is to have people cram their opinions down our throats.

If you want to get your point across so bad, why don't you just make a rant website instead? Mixing biased political beliefs with entertainment to me is far worse than these "evil icky wars" you complain about.

I watched this thing, and I must say you have no concept of understanding the purposes of wars in general. Look, people die, okay? You can't make it seem like every little problem in the world (and every problem that existed before) is suddenly George Bush's fault.

People die in war for a reason: Because they believe in something so much, that they're willing to give up their life for it.

I don't get why if someone dies in battle, to you they're just a "mindless government drone", but if some hippie like Gandhi or Malcom X protests and dies, they're suddently a heroic martyr.

And for the record, war has existed as long as humans have, pal. Read a book.

tat2brat20 responds:

People also die in wars because their lead into a false belief. Anyways I dont hate bush. This wasnt about bush it was just to commemorate the people who have dies, kind of a take a moment thing. And just because war has existed since the beginning doesnt mean lets sit on our asses and not evolve beyond being cavemen. I've read plenty of books and could probably outdo anyone on this whole site as far as the history of war and quite a few other things.Thankyou.

That was so cool!

You should make a lot more like that. I loved it. A good mix of Mario and MK.

gasthatsmells responds:

Thanks. This was my first sprite movie. I have an idea for another one.

Aww...

It looks like a fat version of my cat Trapper John. I gave it a 5.

Kranium responds:

My cat's fat. True but hes cute nyway

America is #1, douchebag.

Our government is the greatest, and this war is perfectly just. Animation and concept are also lame.

Palagoon responds:

Ok, walk to the other end of your house. If this takes less than 5 seconds after you pull your flab out of your little chair, then you might be a redneck who's been believin all the CNN bull.

It gives Zelda a bad name.

Don't get me wrong, I'm quite possibly the biggest Zelda fan here, but it's just not right. The guy can't spell either.

Cow-God responds:

sorry

This is worse than the Mega man thing!

The guy can't spell (what the fuck is a nija sword? Is that like a niNja sword?), the plot is too lame, it's very undignified, and worst of all, the animation is atrocious. This film proves why kids shouldn't play with computers...especially if they never finished the 6th grade.

8-Deadclaw0-8 responds:

holy shit man, chill out... the mega man thing was shit!! no duh... but i make a spelling mistake and u shit all over me!!! you know what take a break gather all your shit together and get a life!!!
